After continued discussion with the PCYA Board, it has become apparent that the correct decision is to cancel our March Conference. In addition to growing considerations regarding large gatherings, yesterday’s event attendance ban for state employees by Governor Wolf, with anticipation that travel bans and emergency declarations will continue, prevents OCYF from participating at our Conference in-person. Our breakouts were specifically to assist Allegheny with drafting definitions, but they now have a travel ban and cannot attend. Further, as you know, many counties are dealing with their own travel bans, attendance bans, and individual county constituent, policy, and health challenges, so we have heard the repeated message that they are unable to leave their counties. Attendance was already down over 25%. Therefore, we believe our only decision is to join the state and federal governmental prevention and awareness protocols which have been put into action.
